    Default what can I learn about my website usage?

    Just wondering what info can be obtained as to who is using my website. I mean, there must be more than just blindly having a website and waiting till someone sends me a payment.

    I looked at my "products viewed" report. I have been getting about 8 views a day. (Ya, I know but its not bad for a site thats not populated with many products yet and I have not advertised).
    Today I got 20 so far. I looked at my "whos online" report and I see this... Host: 119.63.196.70
    User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; ##########spider/2.0; +http://www.##########.com/search/spider.html)

    What can I learn from this info? The "spider" makes my think this is just a pc program browsing for places to send spam or a search engine cataloging me.

    What can I learn about whos using my site?

    I see. This is quite interesting. I am now signed up with google/webmaster/tools. I also am attempting to start a google analytics account. My question is, they want me to paste a html code into each page I want analyzed, near the end of the page. Where do I find the html pages for my website? I think that is the question I want to ask

    Thanks for the help and advice, Donal. I understand that you have not used the Zen Cart Google Analytics but hopefully someone else can offer me some help with understanding the setup.

    I have installed the files in step #1...

    1. UPLOAD:
    /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_footer_googleanalytics.php

    /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/jscript/jscript_googleanalytics_outgoing.php

    ------------------------------------------------
    Step #2 gets a little more confusing...

    2. EDIT:
    tpl_footer.php or tpl_main_page.php or any other that you want.
    (for example: copy template_default/common/tpl_footer.php

    I assume that any file that starts with "tpl" is a template. I also assume that I should edit any and all "tpl" files that I want to be tracked. Correct?
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    then edit and save in YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/ directory).
    To any place that you want add
    <?php include($template->get_template_dir('tpl_footer_googleanalytics.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'common'). '/tpl_footer_googleanalytics.php'); ?>
    For ex. to the bottom of the tpl_footer.php.

    I think that what they are saying is to put the part that starts with "<?php include($..." in the bottom of all of the "tlp" files. Correct?

    The rest, which follows, looks a little easier and so I will wait to see if I need to ask for help.

    3. Go to Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patches and install install.sql (don't use upload - use copy/paste to install sql)
    (if you use Admin Profiles or Admin with Levels you must setting needed permission);
    4. Go to Admin>Configuration>Google Analytics and setting up your Google Analytics configuration;
    5. Go to your Google Analytics Settings -> Edit Settings -> Edit Main Website Profile -> E-Commerce Website : Yes

    From what I understand they are saying that the code should be inserted into each page that you need tracked.... so if you want one in particular tracked put it in that template file for that page.... but (as the site is built in php) as I see it if you want them all tracked, just put the code in a tpl that appears in all your pages ie: footer

    I just stumbled upon "awstats" on my cPanel. How come when I asked about collecting info about my website traffic, etc nobody mentioned "awstats"? Are "awstats" and "google analytical" similar or are they different animals?
