Default Can I put my site back to the way it was a couple of days ago ?

    I got hacked.

Probably because I do not have a current version and can not afford to to have someone do an upgrade for me.

My hosting service ( HostICan ) wants 50.00 to set the site back a day or so prior to todays hacking.

Is this something I can do myself from within my control panel ?

I am not good at the back end of my cart.. Wish I could do an update, but just over my head.. Had a lot of help first getting what I have all set up.

I am looking around in the control panel, but not seeing anythig related to back/restore up or anything..

Your hosting company has flash tutorials(url below) re backing up your site
BUT as it has been hacked already, your mysql database
is probably corrupt. Personally, I would download your images
to home computer get a decent webhost, and start again.
    host ican. com/ support/ tutorials.php

I'd agree with misty that the best course of action would be to start over with the current Zencart version, unless you've done a lot of business and want to save the customer and order data. If you've done that much business, though, you should be able to afford the $50.

First thing I would do, though, is find a new host. Most reputable hosts will restore your site for no extra charge.

Existing host has CPanel. If you move to another webhost
which also has CPanel, should be possible for them to copy your site over, if provided with domain password etc.
You could then attempt to recover your hacked site by
    following zencart hacked tutorial.
However, just moving to a new host is best way forward.

You'll find a list of Zen Cart Certified Hosts here:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...es&pages_id=10

Existing host has CPanel. If you move to another webhost which also has CPanel, should be possible for them to copy your site over
True - but which host would want to do a cPanel-to-cPanel transfer of a hacked website? Not us, that's for sure.

I'd agree with misty that the best course of action would be to start over with the current Zencart version
    Correctamundo!

    Ok..

    Progress !

Switched to Camolot for a hosting service as per the recomended ones from the link above.

Worked out great.. Nice easy transfer and tech support was outstanding !

Come to find out that my previous hosting company ( HostICan ) was really poor with security.. Also lack good knowledge of either WordPress or ZenCart..

Any way.. Thanks to all who replied.. Back up and running !

Great news that you're back in business.

Your experience is not uncommon, and highlights the fact that when considering going into an eCommerce venture, one needs to take it seriously.

eComm is not a game. Like any proper business venture, it needs planning, research and investment.

Choosing a proper host is fundamental, and I hope that other newbies reading this thread will learn from it.

Many of the certified hosts are skilled zencart experts in their own right, in addition to having a broad knowledge of eCommerce in general.

When we take on new clients, we ALWAYS recommend they choose a zencart certified host. They are only marginally more expensive than most other (reliable) hosts, but the few extra pounds/dollars they charge buys you a level of "peace-of-mind" that is so much more valuable.

This fact alone can be the difference between your eCommerce venture succeeding - or failing.
