duplicate zencart site

Hello Ajah ? :-) or anybody ..


as you know we have efpsupply.com, I would like to make a duplicate copy of the site so I can modify it into a new site
and thought it would be simplest to make a duplicate and then just change the content and graphics as there is so much
done to the site I really do not want to have to start again and try to get it to the same setup.

Is it possable to duplicate the IDR and have it all run, or what Might the steps be, as a DIR copy does not seem to do
it, nore with the mysql folder for the DB and just rename the links from the old domain name and update with the new,

Any advice would be appriciated.

You need to create a NEW database for this copy of the shop
Edit the 2 configure.php files to reflect this new database and the different path to the files

have done that, yes but then do I copy over the table info into the new dir ?

Make a proper copy of the original site database with phpmyadmin

Use phpmyadmin to import that backup into the NEW database

any way to get all the admin setting moved over as well ? seems it did not copy over in the DIR copy or the MySQL DIR copy.

Those are not in files - - they are in the database

ok, did the export to a zip, then import to the new DB name "Import has been successfully finished, 394 queries executed."

now the site is comming up with Sorry!
There seems to be a problem connecting to our database. Please give us a few minutes to remedy the problem. Thank you.

well hot dog, got it ..

just had to go back to the sql admin and give me permission to the db again.

All LOOKS ok so far, links seem to be calling the new domain :-)

will keep moving around and see :-)

simple way to clear the existing customers and orders that came with the copy ?

good sign they are there though :-) because the were NOT when I was trying on my own to do the copy..
