Sorry if I sounded curt. That is not my intention. The point is that managing zencart is (in a LOT of respects) no different from managing any other website. There are universal principles, techniques and methods that dictate best practice in website development and management.
There are literally thousands of tutorial sites on the WWW that focus on these key principles, so replicating their stuff here is just re-inventing the wheel. And besides... the good tutorial sites are much better at giving the proper advice.
Guys on the PHP Forum would say the same as I have if you went there to seek help on (for example) CSS.
20 years a Zencart User
Thats ok and I probably took it the wrong way as was getting fairly frustrated aswell
I know what your saying but what I was trying to say was there is a big assumption that everyone knows php etc or thats how it can come across
I can write html and can get by with css though do not like css one little bit
its php that I just cannot get on with and am trying to figure this out as I do need to get the website up and ready to be used by monday or tuesday next week aswell
I am just starting my own buisiness and I do want to learn to do it myself
all I was asking was for a fuller explanation of what I needed to do
Its sorted now though
Although a knowledge of php is a plus, it's not actually necessary to use Zen Cart. You do need to know enough css to tweak stuff, but even then you can probably find an answer either in the Tutorials/FAQ or on the forum. The Zen Cart learning curve can be steep, but it's worth it.
I can get by in css just dont like it but the results of using it are great :)
I like zencart its the only one I like the look of.
But its altering the php that can stump me a bit
The tutorials are good as far as they go but a bit of a fuller explanation would be handy for those of us that are new to using zencart or like me have never used a shopping cart on a website before, by using me installing and configuring it.
