I Want to Make Products Appear from Newest to Oldest

I have searched this forum, but am still confused. All I want to do is make my products appear from oldest to newest. It does this for the "new product" listing, but not the other categories. The header for new products is: main_page=products_new&disp_order=6, so I tried putting "6" in the product sort order, but it didn't do anything.

Also, the alpha sorter drop down doesn't help because it doesn't have an option to sort by newest to oldest. Alternatively, if I coud just put the drop down sorter that is on the new product page onto the other other categories, but I have no idea how to do that, either! I found the form when I viewed "source" in the browser, but I dont' kow where to put it on Zencart, which php file or WHERE.

Are you using the product model number field??

Hello,

I don't have product model numbers for my products. They are just downloads with a title and price. When I was using OSC, I was able to get them to show up from date added, newest to oldest, but doesn't seem to be an option on Zencart.

I did install the new sorter drop down menu, which works, but I still wish I could just get the products to automatically show up from newest to oldest. Right now, it appears they are showing up randomly.

I can view and edit the default_filter.php, but I have NO idea how to mess with the code. I'm sure it's not hard, but I'm clueless with that stuff.

If someone knows how to write the code for the default_filter.php to make the products appear from newest to oldest, that would be great!

As you are not using the model number currently FAKE IT

Assign model numbers to your already added products and then when you add a new one

Then in admin > config > layout settings > Categories/Products Display Sort Order > set to option "2"

2= Products Model

admin > my store > Expected Sort Order > should be "desc"
