Buy One Get One Free Module

I am running Zen Cart 1.3.8a and have installed the latest version of the Buy One Get One Free add on. The subtotal works fine until I go to checkout. At checkout it adds the cost of the free item back to the total and charges my customers the full amount. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
