How to show categories instead of products when a Manufacturer selected

Hello,

My website has a products listed under several categories as below

Main Category
|_ Sub Category 1
|_ Sub Category 2
|_ Product

I have installed manufacturer_all contribute to display all the manufacturers on one page

When I click on a manufacturer it shows all the products from the particular manufacturer and gives a drop down menu of (Sub Category2) so the results can be filtered.

I need to display the sub category 2 instead of the product when a manufacturer is selected.

And show the Sub Category 1 names in the filter drop down menu.

Is it posible to do this in Zen-Cart?

It will be a custom coding job. I don't know if there is a place to start. The manufacturer listing and the product listing use the same template/modules. So it involves quite a bit of custom coding.
