    bug Using Override Template

    Greetings.
    Our website is: http://kmegd.com/
The template used is v1.3.9h, Classic Green.
The website is hosted by Netfirms.com

On going very carefully through the forum posts I came across someone who had done the same as I have, i.e., used the Classic Template for the configurations.
I have now made my overrides and uploaded successfully to the server at Netfirms.

I found on going through Zen forums etc that it was advisable to 'override' the Classic template for ZenCart rather than use the default classic. Have done this, but found when trying to get a preview that I was "forbidden to access it on the server". My override template copies the Classic and is called Key Herbs, which does show up in the box. However, before doing anything I thought that I should ask for advice first from Netfirms, especially as kmegd.com is looking good.
However Netfirms replied that it was now beyond their scope and advised me to ask the question on the forum.

Can anyone please advise me as to what I should do?
    would appreciate any help/advice given.

but found when trying to get a preview
Preview is not actually as it sounds
It is only a screenshot image if one exists NOT a live preview

Best to open another tab/window to your frontend to see how the site/template looks

    Greetings kobra!

I have read many of your informative posts, which has spurred me on to make the overrides....
However, forgive my ignorance, being new and all that; where do I look at it 'front end'?

This is my first Zen Cart, and I have found it quite difficult to sort out, it has taken many hours of reading posts from the forum and then gingerly putting into practise, getting more confident as I go, so I do appreciate your expertise.

If you could direct me then maybe it will fall into place:

    thanking you.

Let's back up several steps. What exactly did *you* mean by "trying to get a preview"?

Kobra was referring to the preview button that's seen when selecting a template in Admin->Tools->Template Select and clicking on a link to see a sample picture provided by whoever created the template in the first place ... if they even supplied an image at all.

If that's what you were doing, then what's the URL of the page that's showing you that forbidden message? If the screenshot "preview" image is not a .jpg or .png or .gif image then it's quite possible that security rules are properly preventing it from displaying.

    Hello DrByte!
Thank you for getting back to me.
Yes I did click on the preview button as mentioned.

Our website http://kmegd.com is actually hosted by Netfirms....
Below is the address that comes up together with the message.

    http://kmegd.com/includes/templates/keyherbs/images/
    Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /includes/templates/keyherbs/images/ on this server.

What have I done wrong or missed out?
Appreciate your help to sort this out.
    Thanking you.

Looks like they've not supplied an actual image, else it would have had something like image_filename_here.jpg etc at the end of that URL. So, the system is working exactly as designed.
You'll need to contact the template designer if you want to look at a preview of what they say it's supposed to look like.

Either that or select that template as your active template and then go look at your storefront (what kobra was referring to by "front end" (vs the "back end" or "admin") of your site) to see what it looks like on *your* site when you turn the template on.

Bridget, you're in capable hands with help from DrByte and Kobra so I won't ######## in, but I just wanted to say that it's a pleasure to read such a polite request for help for a change. No wonder you've managed to get the two 'top guns' to respond to you, a lot of people are just plain rude at times.
