canada post shipping module problems

Hi I have looked all over this forum with no joy. So here i am with my question.

I have a sell online ID. My provider tells me port 30000 is open, however Canada post does not show up in the shipping estimate shipping option. Also when i go to cart and go to check out i get this message
"Cannot reach Canada Post Server. You may refresh this page (Press F5 on your keyboard) to try again.
If you prefer to use Canada Post as your shipping method, please contact the www.realeastimports.com"

I am officially lost; hopefully someone will be able to help

If on a windows baox locally - -

Open a cmd window and enter

telnet realeastimports.com 30000

See what message you get - - If other than successful the port is not fully communicating

Here is my follow up for everyone that may experience this issue.

I contacted Canada post they told me that they had not received any traffic from my site. I then went on line did a search for online port scanners. I used 3 different online scanners, and all 3 came back that port 30000 was closed or filtered. Armed with this info I went back to my host provider and asked them to check again, and make sure that port 30000 was open for bi-directional traffic. And now to no surprise everything is up and running. Thanks for the port scanning advice cobra. I only wish I could get that week end back now, that I used working on the problem and looking for answers. LoL
