    red flag Sort Order

Hi, I have a shop which has quite alot of products in, however the sort order has always been set to 0 on all products.

I need to change it so that all new products entered onto the shop are displayed first at the top of each category rather than in alphabetical order. Is there a way to do this?

I've tried adding the dropdown menu from new products but this doesn't work as it always takes you abck to the shop homepage rather than changing the order of the products. Ideally this would be a good solution if I could add this to the product listing as I could set the default listing to show by 'date added - new to old' and then the customer could choose if they wanted to change it say to 'old to new'

Also, is there a mod which can be added for a quicker way to sort the sort order of products?

    Thank You

    Nick

I had a similar issue with a site that contained over 9000 products.

    We did this:

    1. added the SORT ORDER field to Easy Populate V 1.2.5.4
    2. did a data export in EasyPop.
    3. Manually assigned appropriate sort values to products in their designated categories.
    4. Reloaded the EasyPop data.

    red flag Re: Sort Order

Ok rather than do the sort order, do you know of a way that I could take the 'New Products' dropdown and as it to the product listing? This would save a heck of alot of time if I could do this.

    How did you do that?

I tried it the same thing, but it didn't work.

    Thanks

What did you use for the header ?
v_products_sort_order ? I have been trying to figure this out forever and can't find it anywhere. Thanks in advance

    I used v_products_sort_order.

I edited the easypopulate.php file in admin. When I download the full file via easypopulate the correct header and information is in the file.

However when I upload it doesn't change the sort order of the products into what I have changed in my file.

Evidently some more amending in easypopulate.php to do, but I don't know what. Any ideas anyone thanks

If you follow the procedure advocated by LankeeYankee it will work:
