Default Need help adding a core charge attribute....

Hi! I am new to ZenCart and I am learning a lot about it right now. Anyways, I am having troubles adding an attribute that adds a core charge that is not taxed to a product. The way I have been trying to set it up is by creating an attribute option called "Core Charge" as a radio. I then set the value to $275.00. That's where I get lost...How do I apply this attribute to a specific product or group of products? I have searched the whole forum for core charges and auto parts core charges with little luck on finding a similar issue by another user. I have also read the HOW TO on this subject and it only applies to color, size, etc. Anyone have any experience with this type of attribute?

    Tech Specs -

    ZC Version: new install v1.3.9h
    Operating system: CentOS
    Add-ons: none
Customization: minor PHP and HTML tweaks to alter fonts size, color, etc.

Thanks for any help you can give me in advance! Please HALP! I am starting to feel like this......

Exactly what do you mean by "core charge"?

the attribute would be added in just the same way as size colour etc

Crap.....I guess I should have explained that, eh?

A core charge is for auto parts that must be returned to the manufacturer for refurbishing. It's basically a way to insure the manufacturer/distributor get the money to replace with the cost of the core charge or recondition a circulating part.

I have figured out how to add the charge into the attributes now though. I didn't realize the options were down below to add cost to the attribute. Basically I had to RTFM......However I do have a question regarding attribute option.

I have successfully created a radio attribute that adds the charge. The issue I have with it is, there isn't another option to choose so the radio and dropdown are kinda pointless to use. I tried using text only but the attribute value was not applied when I added the product to the cart, even though the value options were the same as the radio originally created. Any idea why the text only option would not apply the charge in the cart? Thank you!

But there is an option to choose.. yes or no ie: checked or unchecked otherwise you just include the price in the base price of the product
