Editing Product Descriptions

I would like to make some minor edits to some of my product descriptions, however when I go to Catalog/ Categories/Products / select a category and then attempt to edit a product, the product name and description disappear. Is it possible to edit the descriptions without having to recreate them in entirety? Thanks in advance.

I wanted to add on - that I am experiencing the exact same thing on my fresh install. (installed 2 days ago - no customizations)

I've added several products to the inventory, and when I go back to edit text of the description - the text is completely gone from the entry. The missing text is in the following text-edit fields:

Product Name
Product Description
Product Model

Fresh brand new install

* What the addons/contributions you have installed?
None

* What customizations have you made?

* What type of server are you using?
Apache

* Are you installing locally?

* What version of MYSQL is installed on the server?
MySQL 5.0.77

* What you were doing when your problem occurred?

Create a product, give it a product name, product description, model number, and then click "preview", then click "insert". Go back to the listing for the products, click the "Edit" button, and wha-la... the descriptive text is missing from the entry.

I tried using a different browser (IE instead of my normally used FireFox) - same results in both browsers.

* Any other details that might be important, i.e. the port number

Okay - I think this is the issue - after reading this article:

I'll try the fix with my install and see how it goes. I'll also submit a request for PHP to be upgraded to current version.

Amazing! My search of the forum bought me to your thread. I have the same issue with my fresh install. However, I did not find a fix to the link you posted in a subsequent post:

The only difference I have is that I added Image Handler2. That seem to work okay, but when I go to edit a product, the name, description and model number are not populated in the edit screen.

I need a little help here.

I revisited the solution submitted by Hawk. I should have scrolled down further. It worked. My server is running PHP Ver. 4.4.9. This solution worked.
