Hi,
I am new here and I want to know if there are any "real-world" Real Estate For Sale websites implemented using zencart- or is zencart just a bad choice for this type of site?

But there are many excellent commercial Real Estate rental/sale scripts specifically designed for Real EstateZen-Venom Get Bitten

Sure, if you use the site in showcase mode.
You can set the categories for either locations or price range. then make products that are houses with all the pictures and text.
You may want to modify your site with an advanced search page that is more custom to RE. Such as check boxes for price range, location and bedrooms / bathrooms etc.
You can even install video of the homes.
