Deleting Pages?

I have my own privacy and shipping & returns pages. I do not need or want the stock Zen Privacy page and the Zen Shipping & Returns pages. These pages have nothing to do with me and yet they show up in search results. I have found the Admin/Define Page Status page and can turn off the text on these pages, but an empty page with a back button still shows up in searches.

Any way to just get rid of these pages altogether? Thanks

Yes. First I deleted them from EZPages, but that had no effect.

Today I had the page displayed in my browser. I changed the Define Page Status setting to 3 and saved. When I refreshed my browser the text went away except for the page title (Privacy Notice), and a BACK button appeared just below the title.

- delete the /includes/modules/pages/xxxxxxx folder for the pages you want to disappear, so they'll return a 404 error
- and delete the links you don't want to appear on the page-not-found template, in your custom copy of tpl_page_not_found_default.php

Or you could use the built-in pages for the content instead of EZ-Pages, and simply point the EZ-pages to the built-in pages and still have the menuing benefits you're using.

We've been using this technique for several years - it allows for complete control over the links to the define_pages . Easy to do:
For example...

* Create EZPage called "Contact Us".
* Assign it to a menu position (header, sidebar, footer)
* Skip over content input field
* Internal Link is: index.php?main_page=contact_us

Then, switch off define_pages sidebox and disable default links to them.

Thank you. I had several programmers working on my site at different times while the cheats at Heritage Web Design ripped off thousands of people. So, why it is set up the way it is, I have no idea.

I will pass this helpful thread on to my current programmer for updating. I do like having access for text updates in EZ pages. I can quickly go in and make a change without paying money.

This is a good example of why it is important to make use of zencart's OVER-RIDE SYSYEM. (ie: using a CUSTOM template).

When used properly, the overirde system helps to ensure that MINIMAL changes are done to the core file system. Changes are applied to COPIES of core files, which are then loaded into the appropriate override folder (directory).

In this way, the important core files remain intact, and should therefore deliver CORE behaviour when reverting to the "classic" template.

If your developers followed this override procedure, you should be able to switch back to CLASSIC template and see if the CORE behaviour you expect is still evident.

If it isn't, then either the over-ride principle was not followed, and/or changes were made to core files in their default folders.

Since we just upgraded to 1.3.9h about 2 months ago I would think that any mods to the core would now be gone. I follow the idea of what you are saying, but can't do any of this myself. I program CNC grinders for a living, not websites. I will send this thread to my programmer for review.
