Weird URL redirect

Hopefully this is an easy fix but I'm scratching my head a little bit on this one...

I added some social media buttons on my homepage in the the header. I've tried adding the html code in the define pages editor and in the tpl_main_page file in file manager. The issue I'm having is that although the image code makes the image url point to... (i.e- www.facebook.com/boatersplanet) it automatically appends our URL to the front so it tries to go to (http://www.boatersplanet.com/www.fac.../boatersplanet)


Any ideas?

If you're gonna put an external URL into a link, put the http:// in front of it. Otherwise it treats it as a link within your own site.
