A warning to those who are considering using or are using this merchants online services
We recently closed an account with ANZ eGate Merchant Services used in Australia. There is a module offered within this website to connect your zencart site to the ANZ system.
Due to market trends we have found the majority of our online payments are going through Paypal leaving a pretty dead ANZ system.
I believe the purchasing public feel Paypal is a secure service because of the ebay relationship etc.
We were paying a monthly fee which amounted to $479.00 pa plus transactions.
The economics do not stack up for offering the two services
Now here is the catch. ANZ have told me I have to pay them $250.00 just to close the account. I was told politely it was $500.00 but they reviewed it recently and reduced it to the new amount
So my warning to everyone is, be clear whether you need this type of merchant service or not.
We have moved over to Paypals Virtual Terminal system which is cheaper per month than ANZ
