Image handler2 shows no images

hello everyone,

I'm new here on this forum so hopefully I'm in the right place. However, I have a problem with the installation of image handler 2. I installed it on my zen cart installation version v1.3.9h (fresh install). I checked whether all files have been uploaded correctly and they appear to be all there. However none of the product images are being shown. If I click on the text that's being shown instead, it does open the image, so the images are clearly still there and Zen Cart knows where to find them. Also the mouse hover works, yet no images are being shown.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I can't find any information on the forum nor when using google.
