Hover Color Categories Side Box

I'm having trouble figuring out how to make the category box on the left top have a hover color. Guidance from one of the resident CSS experts would be GREATLY appreciated.

They change from black to red on hover for me

even the top left categories box? i've tried it in firefox, chrome and IE and not red :dontgetit On all the other sideboxes it works fine.
