I am setting up a new store and I'm having a problem with my test orders. I add the pdf item to the shopping cart, it gets charged correctly, but the customer gets no download link.
I'm using Zen Cart v1.3.9h
No addons.
file is in the download folder
redirect is set to on as we're on a linux box
/pub is set to 777 (also tried 755 with no luck)
enable downloads is set to true
Am I missing something?

What's the URL to your product page?
You've probably not added the download file as an attribute to your product, or you didn't "select" that attribute before clicking add-to-cart. https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=71.

Yes, nothing to see in the my account area except that the order is there, just no link.

It is set up as free to hasten testing. I did apply the attribute, but not sure I was 100% correct in doing it.

Yes, the attribute is added and the little button next to the file names is showing green.

So, you have an order showing for this purchase in your admin. What's that order's status? If it's "Pending" then the downloads won't be visible.
Pending orders are those for which payment hasn't yet been received. You need to change it to a higher value (ie perhaps Processing or Delivered) for downloads to be accessible. This is to prevent people getting downloads they haven't paid for..

I had it set to processing and even bumped it up to delivered and update to see if that changed anything. Still no go.
I also have download time set for 365 days and 6 times.

Yes. Customer>Orders>Select the customer order> and it takes me to a report showing the order, the status, and this
