I use version 1.39h and my site is http://interdigitaldesigns.com
I would like to know if and how I would add the html code from an invisible stat counter on my main page. Is it possible? If so, how do I go about it please?

You could hard code this into the footer template in the COMMON folder of your template...
... but what is the purpose? Just use Google Analytics, or webalizer off your cpanel20 years a Zencart User
