    Default Admin Login problem

    Hi

    I have a 1.3.8a database I've imported into a 1.3.9h zen cart.

I have tried various known user/password combinations and I can't get into admin. I'm getting "You entered the wrong username or password."

Next I reset the admin name/password in phpmyadmin. Didn't work. Still gives the wrong user/pass message. This is the first time resetting didn't work for me.

I tried using an admin_name and admin_pass string from a live shop and manually pasting it into the admin table. Didn't work either.

Is there anything else I can try?

Are your configure files pointing to the correct database that you are making the changes to?

    there are instructions here

The database doesn't use prefixes and I used the reset sql just as it is written.

I just tried Ajeh's suggestion for rebuilding the admin table from this post

    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...26&postcount=4

    This didn't work.

I've tried resending the password but none of the existing email accounts will work.

I think I'm running out of ideas.

Have you tried changing the email to one that works in phpmyadmin and see what it sends?

Yep, I tried that too. Didn't work. The main purpose of this is to get customer info from an old database. We will just work with the database in phpmyadmin and move on to other things that need to get done. Thanks for your suggestion.

You need to upgrade the database using zc_install so that its structure works the same as the version you're importing into.
And then since it contains settings from an old server you need to also run fix_cache_key.php or manually fix the SESSION_WRITE_DIRECTORY setting in the database to point to a valid writable folder. Just like you would do when moving between servers. https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=100

Yes, I tried that too but since I need admin login info to proceed with upgrade I hit a roadblock there too. LOL

    Thanks for jumping in.

We're not taking this database into a live store anyway. I just thought giving admin access to client to retrieve info might make it easier/less confusing.

So, you would reset the admin password using the tutorial, which would give them a working password for the upgrade. https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=2

I have been having this same problem. I ran the SQL command to drop the table and replace the username and password, and it still tells me I have the wrong username or password. It's almost like it's not accessing the right database. I have made no changes to my account since the last time I logged in successfully, so I don't know what is going on.
