    help question Text Is Overlapping In Internet Explorer

    Hey folks!

    I am using v1.3.9 installed from scratch. I have added on the COWOA module to check out without logging in, Better Categories module, and Column Layout Grid module. Other than adding my own navigation buttons on my main page, these are the only code changes I have made.

    This site looks perfect in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. But, put it into Internet Explorer, and the formatting is all off.

    Here is one of our pages for an example. If you look at it in Firefox, it looks normal. If you look at this in Internet Explorer, the text overlaps itself and the formatting makes it difficult to read.

    I have searched through a bunch of forums, and saw some fixes for padding and widths and such, but when I go to make the change, it is already present in the version I am using.

    This happens on multiple workstations, so it is not the version of IE that I am using.

    If someone can give me a reason not to rename IE "Internet Exploder", I'd be super grateful! :)

    Looks exactly the same here in IE6, 7 and 8 and FF5.

    Odd. I have checked it on a 5th computer, and still having the same issue. Not sure why it works for you. I am uploading a picture of what I am seeing in IE 8. Seems that everyone I ask to test it sees the exact same thing as me. Internet Explorer seems to be centering ALL my text, which is why it ends up overlapping. I do NOT want the text to be centered, and not sure what to change to get IE to see it properly. Thanks!

    OK - progress made.

    I was reading a few other posts, and someone mentioned a CENTER tag not being closed properly, and I found one!

    I started going through the pages I have edited so far, and found my mistake. Now, the centering issue is fixed. Whew!

    However, on the login page, the 2 different login boxes are squished together, and the font still overlaps itself and cannot be read. Still looking for an answer to that one. :) Thanks!

    Sorry, I was looking at the wrong page.

    I'd be tempted to call that a minor bug, as whatever you define in includes/languages/english/login.php for HEADING_NEW_CUSTOMER_SPLIT doesn't wrap. You should be able to edit that define to add a <br/> where you need it to break.

    And we are fixed!

    Out of desperation, I went back into the COWOA module files and read the INSTALL.TXT to find out which files are ADDED to this. Turns out, it indeed WAS the login.php file located here:

    /includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/login.php

    I commented out this line:

    define('HEADING_NEW_CUSTOMER_SPLIT', 'New Customer? Please enter your checkout information here');

    and replaced it with this one:

    define('HEADING_NEW_CUSTOMER_SPLIT', 'New Customer? Create Account!');

    This sentence is now SHORTER, so even though IE does not display this the same way that FF does, it now does not overlap.

    WHEW! Thanks for everyone's help! Uploading a picture of the way it looked in Fire Fox so you folks can compare it to the one in IE I already uploaded.
