Default Tools > Template Selection = 500 Internal Server Error

I searched the forum/web for an answer, but I can't find anything remotely similar...

I just installed the most recent version of Zen Cart about an hour ago. I've got everything up and running the way I wanted, so I'm now working on customizing the layout. I started following the instructions on this tutorial: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=142 (How do I create a new Custom Template?)

When I reached the end ("Open your Admin panel and navigate to tools -> template selection."), I tried to access the template selection area and received a 500 Internal Server Error. Everything else in the admin panel seems to be running fine (I didn't click through everything, but I did go through every other option under "Tools") and the store itself is working fine. The only change I've made to my install is creating the new template folder, which I deleted as a precaution and it had no effect on the issue.

Does anyone have any idea what could have gone wrong, and how I can fix this? I'm completely stumped!

If it was working before you changed anything, then it broke after your change, and doesn't fix itself when you revert back to how things were it can only mean there was some other change made that didn't get reverted back.

The possiblities of man-made problems are endless.

I'd be suspecting file permissions/ownership or similar, BUT, since this is a new installation it may be easiest for you to simply re-install and start afresh. The experience you gain from doing a re-install will be a good training exercise for when you need to upgrade.

    Cheers
