In fact, I actually used the tutorial to which you referred me. I thought I'd done so successfully when I was able to open the Store's homepage (online catalog) and then the admin screen. But then I couldn't log into the admin console.
I followed tutorial steps 2a-c and 4. The configure files in includes and 'admin'/includes both do have the new (correct) directory names. I followed step 6 and when I ran the fix_cache_key utility it fixed the SESSION_WRITE directory so that both the FS_SQL & SESSION_WRITE directories are the same.
I will redo the tutorial, though, to see if I missed something; hopefully I did and it will work the second time around. :-)
