Default Custom Fields Easy Populate 1.2.5.7b ?

I am working on a new install of v1.3.9d, I have some prior experience from a previous install back in 2009, so I seem to be coping with most issues that come up.

I am trying to avoid the heartbreak of hand loading some 2,000 line items and attemping to use Easy Populate. I installed 1.2.5.7b and it seems to be working to the extent that I can download and upload CSV files, the uploaded CSV files seem to be inserted properly.

1.2.5.7b does not include products_sort_order in the list of default fields from the product table to be imported, and I need to be able to use the sort order to get the catalog to display the way I want it to.

I tried adding a custom field using admin>configuration>Easy Populate:

    I selected custom fields
I put products_sort_order into the new fields box and hit update per the instructions.

products_sort_order now shows up in the configuration panel

However when I download a new CSV to use as a template the new field does not show up.

I manually added the field to my test upload file, and imported it,

In the tools screen I see the upload go up and the correct sort order for each product seems to be included (last item, in this case 5)

    UPDATED! - Model: 2400BH20DD | http://www | PTP 24100 | | http://www | | | | 1461.4666 | 1.2 | 7/16/2011 | 7/16/2011 | 10 | Motorola | Point to P | P2P Wirele | 2.4Ghz | | | | | Taxable Go | 1 | | | | | | | | | 5 |

However when I visit the catalog sort orders are not there.

I am probably making a dumb newbie mistake but after two days I cannot figure it out.

    Any help will be appreciated

I do not work with 1.2.5.7 because it is a bit "shaky", but I imagine that you would need to modify the easypopulate.php file that sits in the root of the admin area

    admin/easypopulate.php

(Naturally, your admin folder will be named differently)

LankeeYankee has described in the following post, how to add additional fields to the php fileL

    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116061

Now... whether this techique applies to 1.2.5.7 ... I don't know - but try it and see.

The reference you give relates to 1.2.5.4 & 1.2.5.5. If I am reading what few docs there are about about 1.2.5.7 correctly, the 5.7 does not require playing with the PHP code, it should all be handled via admin>configuration>Easy Poplulate.

Mucking about at the PHP level seems to me to be a guarantee of spending several days of fixing things that aint broke if this is true.

Is there some way to contact the author, or does the author monitor the discussion area ?

Most authors do not want to be contacted via PM, so look for the support thread and post your requirements there.

I use ver 1.2.5.4, so I can't help specifically with different versions.

I have configured 1.2.5.4 to deliver the results of ALL fields in the products table (took about 20 minutes to configure using LankeeYankee's advice) and we routinely use it for our many clients to dump and re-populate the products table for every field in that table.

It's reliable. It works. It's easy...

Ok, I think I have resolved my issue, Custom Fields in Easy Populate 1.2.5.7b does not appear to work properly.

Ok, think I have resolved my problem. The custom fields feature in Easy Populate 1.2.5.7b does not appear to work properly.

I went back and checked the mods and found that the updated custom fields feature was introduced in EP 1.2.5.5.csv does seem to work.

Any field already in the products table can be added from configuration>easy populate.

After installing 1.2.5.5.csv add a field using the configuration>ep feature, using the tools>ep feature download a copy of your products table as a CSV.

Open the CSV file in Excel or a text editor and you should see the field you added.
