I moved a 1.3.9h Zen Cart from a server running
Apache version 2.2.15
MySQL version 5.0.92-community
PHP version 5.2.13
to one running
Apache:2.2.19
MySQL5.1.52
PHP:5.2.17
Now, I'm getting sporadic issues of customer names and addresses not showing up in the Admin home panel and on the orders themselves.
Is the only option for fixing this to upgrade? We do need to upgrade and this is in the plans for the near future but I've heard about setting a database to be backwards compatible to temporarily solve the problem.
Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Compare this setting between the two servers.
Admin > Tools > Server/Version Info
search for: memory_limit
Is it at least 64M on both?

Thank you - I appreciate it. I did follow each of the instructions in the second link and have moved three separate Zen Cart sites from the server in question to the new server in question without running into this issue before. Originally Posted by DrByte
