Free downloads help!

Hi, i added a free download product, but when i run a test (from adding it to the cart to the end of placing an order) i go to my account section and it says "NOTE: Downloads are not available until payment has been confirmed". if the download is free, it would have to be ready to download once the order is placed.
can someone help me?

if i go to the admin area and update the order, the download button shows up, but when i try to download it gives me this message
