Link manager only takes me to login screen

I have a brand new install of 1.3.9 and it has no addons or customization (yet). I've looked for information on unlinking products, and not finding anything looked for how to link to try to do the reverse.

Found a mention of the Multiple Categories Link Manager, invoked that for an existing product in the sample catalog, and all it does is take me back to the login screen.

What have I done and how can I fix it?

Are you trying to manage a linked product(s)?
The stock install of ZC does not include a Multiple Categories Link Manager.
Where did you find a "mention"?

JBible, what I found is that you have to be very careful about case and paths and the like and any one of those things can give you grief. Since I had a brand new install and nothing to lose (nothing in the shop yet) I deinstalled (deleted the directory) and started over. I've found that until you have everything installed and get the blurb about renaming your admin directory, nothing much you do will fix the problem faster than a reinstall, and there was no way to determine out of all the files which one I'd messed up (and at that point I didn't know enough about navigating the system to know where to start). Of course, this is a five-time de/reinstaller speaking.

It helped me to write down what I had for accounts/paths/passwords, etc., as I was installing (or before I installed, as appropriate) because in the excitement I kinda misremembered some things and got screwed up as a consequence. Multiple times.

Yes it does.

Click "C" next to any product and you will see a button that says "Multiple Categories Link Manager". Ive used it all the time for many years then with the latest update it stopped working. As well as a few other buttons. Including the button to initiate a sales report on the sales report addon. Kind of screwed right now.
