    Default Why was alt_nav.php removed?

I would like to have a general thread to discuss 1.5.0 - not bugs only cvetches :)

Why was alt_nav.php removed, what about JS disabled browsers (devices) or store owners who want to hide the configuration or tools tab; but still have it handy?

If the reason was confusion why not add it to a link in the footer?

It was changed, in part, to allow for the Admin Access controls to be simpler to implement and manage for storeowners.

Perhaps you can explain what specific problem you're having that prompted your question?

A rather good reason to keep it is that the configuration section in particular can get extremely long with the addition of 3rd party modules and scrolling a dropdown can sometimes be very tricky - if not impossible when they extend below the browser window.

I'll second this reasoning; one of my sites has a bunch of add-ons and I have to go through alt_nav to see/control those that were added last to "Configuration".

I hear a whisper that the alt nav may be undergoing some tweaking so that it's less irritating if you don't want it but trigger it accidentally and more useful if you do want it and trigger it intentionally.

That's good to know because it really is a vital option.
