Hiding a Category

I want to create a hidden "replacement filter" category that will not show in categories, but instead, the products filed in that hidden category can be displayed only by the Ultimate Cross Sell mod.

How can a category be hidden, but still allow its products to be displayed by the Cross Sell mod?

The Cross Sell mod doesn't seem to have the ability to do this.

I still like the mod, in that it's very well constructed.
