Authorize.net adds suffix to invoice number

Orders paid for using the authorize.net module are reported by authorize.net with a suffix added to the order number, such as -dORqaQ.

This started only after uipgrading to 1.3.9. I looked but could not find a setting for this nor did a search turn up anything. How do I turn it off?

It is there to prevent submissions of duplicate order numbers being submitted to Authorize.net.
There is no option to turn it off.
