help question Creating individual provincial shipping rates

Hi...I'm shipping within Canada, and have already set up the different GST, HST and PST rates for the various provinces.

I now want to charge different shipping rates for the provinces.

Basically, I want to break the provinces up into Wstern, Central and Eastern Canada, and charge 3 different shipping rates, all the while keeping the gst,hst and pst rates intact for pricing and shipping.

    I'm using version v1.3.9h

Thanks in advance, for any help

I know nothing about Canadian tax, so assume GST means General Sales Tax, but what is HST and PST ?

Are these taxes too? And how / when are they applied?

When you say you have configured different tax rates, did you create ZONES in which these rates apply?

If you explain a bit more about how Canadian Taxes work, then we may be able to help you.

Given that you've already set up your tax zones and tax rates, you don't really need to explain your tax setup, contrary to schoolboy's post.
However, I would be careful about charging taxes in more zones than you need to. Check with your tax accountant ... because you often don't need to charge taxes to anyone outside the provinces in which you're registered as a business and for which you've registered to collect taxes.

(schoolboy, Goods & Services Tax is levied nationally, Provincial Sales Tax is levied provincially, and Harmonized Sales Tax is a combination of both in certain provinces which have amalgamated the other two taxes into one so they can apply it to a broader range of products to derive even more taxes from citizens.)

You probably need to clone the Flat Rate module and limit each to a different zone with a different rate. There might be other modules you could clone or customize to accomplish similarly.

Yes... I took the trouble to look this up on wikipedia after I made my post and would agree that CLONING a module may be the solution.

My associate, fairestcape, shows how this can be done here:-

Another solution that you might try is to look at the Zone Table shipping module in the Free Software Add Ons ...
    http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=695

where you can define multiple Zone Definitions and when you install it, you can use these Zone Definitions on each of the Zones and the Details can be more specific to Country and Zone than doing just the Country as it is with the Zone Rate zones shipping module ...

NOTE: if you define your Zone Definitions prior to installing this module, you will see them in the choices ...

NOTE: if you add new Zone Definitions *after* this module is installed, you will want to save your settings to NotePad then do a REMOVE, INSTALL and redefine your settings ...
