Is there a readme file included with the add-ons? That should explain how to install the mods... what mods are you trying to use? The installation process is different for each add-on, so it's kinda hard to offer help without knowing which ones you're using ;)

To install a template, first upload the includes folder in the template package to the same directory where your store is loaded. Then go to admin/tools/template selection. If you uploaded correctly, you'll see the template listed. Click edit to select a different template.

A lot of this will seem daunting at first. Stick with it. It's not as complicated as it first seems.

You ain't kidding! It's still pretty daunting for me, and I've done multiple setups. On the other hand, it's really cool to continually learn new stuff and figure out how to solve issues.

I am totally confused. If I install the "includes" folder into the directory where my store is located then it will overwrite the "includes" folder that is already there will it not? Then will no longer have the option of the default theme correct?

Even though in the read me instructions it said no files are overwritten. I'm trying to use the Gingham Blue template by christon26 but when I uploaded the template files into the template directory it was missing the sidebars?

When I tried the above I renamed the original "includes" folder so not to lose it and when I tried to use the new theme all I got was errors.

Can anyone give me a step by step as to what files/directories are to be uploaded to which directory exactly?

    1) No, it won't overwrite what's already in the includes folder. It will add to the includes folder.

    2) When you switch templates, go to admin>tools>layout boxes controller and reset the side boxes.

    giftsandwhatnot,

The reason you need to upload the entire includes folder and not just the templates folder, is because the includes folder also has the directory structure necessary for the overrides system.

For example, if you were to edit english.php which is located in includes/languages/ you would want to place the edited file in the overrides folder which would be includes/languages/yourtemplate/. The yourtemplate folder under languages doesn't exist until it's created. It is one of several in various locations that are necessary for the overrides system to work.

Thank you both and thank you also to the person who sent me the instructional video. This information has made the instructions more clear.
