Stock control for some products only?

Hi All,
I am developing my first zen cart store for a client and so far all is going well.

Apart from selling items for which they don't care about stock control, they also sell places on courses.

I will be creating a custom product type for the workshop courses. I would also ideally like to be able to turn stock control on just for this product type.

I haven't found any questions or answers on this topic.

I come from a programming background, so whilst my PHP & SQL are a bit rusty I am happy to get my hands dirty in that regard. I just don't yet know the ZC architecture very well yet.

Any ideas will be very welcome?

There isn't currently a general way to apply stock control to some products only. For physical products the normal approach is simply to set the stock so high that it becomes irrelevant.

I suspect that for virtual products there may be something more sophisticated, but its been a long time since I've looked into that area.
