Disable Whos Online?

Is there any way to disable the Who's online tracking?

I've been having troubles with the table crashing and a large query that is causing mysql to become non-responsive. I don't look at the who's online report in admin nor use the side box.

Wondering if this is possible or if it's critical to any functions.

It's not critical to anything.

You can disable it by editing /includes/functions/whos_online.php as shown:
Around line 15, insert a "return" statement like this:

 return;
  global $db;
