Default Re: zone rates configuring by price and not weight

On Zone 2, what country do you think is:
    U1

When you say it is not working, what is not working?

What are you expecting on the Shipping Costs?

What are your Settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

If you want to use Weights then make sure your Maximum Weight is as high as your Highest weight ...

If you do not want to add more to the Weight, be sure to set your Tare Rates to 0:0 ...

Default Re: zone rates configuring by price and not weight

I had to make my own country for a zone that only covered Alaska, Virgin Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii and I named it U1

It's not working because even though I selected "weight" as the calculation method it is still using price.

Weight (my cost) for Item A is 15 whereas price is 30 - - - If I put 3 of item A into the cart the price (retail) will be 90 and weight (my cost from supplier) is 45. Rate is 29% so I want shipping to be 29% of order weight which should come out to 13.05 but instead comes out to 26.10

In the Shipping/Packaging I listed 5000 as max weight and 0:0 on the package percentage

For some reason the system is just not switching over from price to weight. I even added a new test item and still going off of price vs weight.

While I have your attention (assuming I do still) is there a way to disable all the countries I don't need without deleting them in case I want to use them at a later date? BTW - I do appreciate your help. I can add to and edit whatever I'm told to but as to make changes on my own - I'm totally ignorant.

Which Zone is giving the wrong shipping rate?

If you are using Zones on your Shipping and using the Zone Rates zones for the method, you could set all the Countries that you do NOT ship to in the:
Skip Countries, use a comma separated list of the two character ISO country codes
Then, if there is no Shipping there is not way to checkout ...

This still allows Grandma in the UK to ship a shinny new crutch to Tiny Tim in New York ...

Glad I asked that question - I hadn't even thought about someone out of my shipping area sending something to someone in it.

As far as what zone doesn't work - I haven't got past testing the first one yet. I'm considering just using the clones of the perweightunit then using a low order fee but that will collect too much for orders just under my 29.99 mark and it doesn't look as good but I have to go pick up my daughter from Pre-k.

Thanks for all of your help. I don't think its a zone issue - just something preventing it from calculating from the weight field instead of the price field - it obviously works from the price field with the same zones. Any suggestions are appreciated and I'll respond when I get back.

No matter what I tried I could not get the zone rate to calculate using the weight times a percentage but it did use the weight to calculate shipping if I used whole numbers rather than percentages. It was a pain but I calculated up to 500 in increments of 5 (as to come as close as possible to actual shipping charged using an excel spreadsheet and notepad++

Talk about a lot of variable...

And that's just for one zone!
