New Template Not Showing

Hi, I am new to ZenCart but familiar with setting up other stuff i.e Forums, Blogs etc. I have installed the latest version of ZenCart and am wanting to try out different templates.

I uploaded Lite_Red template to the root directory and upacked it via c-panel. It seems to have unpacked into the correct folder i.e. includes, templates, and is visible there together with the default green template.

I then go to "tools" "templates" but it does not show in the "edit" drop down list. Where have I gone wrong please?

If 'lite_red' doesn't display in Admin - Tools - Template Selection, your files didn't end up in the right places. Check includes/templates/lite_red for a file named template_info.php - that's where the admin list gets its info.

While I install Zencart by uploading a zip file and extracting it using the control panel File Manager, I think it's better to unzip template files to the local computer and upload the 'includes' folder to the store root. If your Zencart installation is in /shop, for example, that's where the 'includes' folder from the template would go, not the root of the domain.

The Lite Red folder shows in the templates folder just as do the classic and the default templates.

template_info.php is present and correct in the Lite Red folder.

What are you trying to edit?

If it's in the tools pulldown as you indicated in a later post, you should select it from there to make it your template. Don't forget to go to admin>tools>layout boxes controller and reset the sideboxes!

There is at the same URL without the www., and it appears the lite_red template has been installed and selected.

To edit the files mentioned on the site (there are clues!). Download the files to your computer and use a good text editor like Notepad++ or Crimson Editor to make your changes.

Obviously, you'll also need an FTP client. There are some free ones available like FileZilla.

A lot of the changes CANNOT be done from the admin. You'll have to do them the way I suggested above.
