Ready made templates

I am considering buying a ready made template for my site. The template has some side boxes which have text in them which I want to change. Are these things easy to change on ready made templates or are they fixed and need editing with the various software suites like Dreamweaver etc.
Here is the template I am considering :

Are the templates easily customisable like the standard Zen green template?

The template you referenced is a Template Monster template. Search the forums for "template monster" to see what kind of reputation they have here.

As for changing things, TM templates are generally much more difficult to edit due to the way they modify core Zencart functions and add several layers of <div>s to the template structure.

Also, IMO, put Dreamweaver and its like away when working with Zencart. Much more useful are a good FTP program, a good text editor and one of the plugins for Firefox, either Web Developer or Firebug.

You cannot use Dreamweaver or anything like it to edit Zen Cart, as they operate on HTML, not on the many different PHP files that make up the HTML in a Zen Cart page.

Its a nice template and as long as you don't want to physically change the structure of it (but you can change graphics to your hearts content) it will be perfectly fine, and presents a professional image to the customer, which is what is most important.

I am concerned if I upload the template it wont function correctly as its a Template monster template!
I couldnt find much info from the search function about them either.
with regards dremaweaver I presumed the tempolates had been wriiten using it and other associated editing programes!

I think you should be. dgent has apparently had good experiences with TM templates, so you have another opinion.

Your specific question was if TM templates are as easy to customize as the Classic template, and the answer to that is an emphatic 'no'.

Of course it will function correctly if you leave it structure as it is. There is nothing to stop you changing every image, colour, etc which are imaged based to customise.

I'm pretty sure those are just examples in the demo and are customizable from within the ACP.
