Default How to add radio button attributes with picture?

Okay, I hope I'm going to be able to explain this well enough for someone to be able to understand what I need to do

I have a business creating personalized favours, some of which are personalized candy bars. I have all of the front designs of the wrappers entered as a product and I need to set up selections that my customers can choose from for the back design of the wrapper. How I am envisioning this would be to have all the back designs visible for each product and the customer would just select the radio button to the back design they want. Does that make sense?

I am assuming this is done through attributes, however, I can't seem to figure out how to do it as a group versus individually. For example, I have five different back design options for my wedding designs and then a certain number of back designs for birthdays and so on and so forth. I need to add all five back design options for my wedding candy bar designs to each wedding product so when my customers find the front design they want to order they can then tell me what design they have chosen for the back of the wrapper.

Geez, I sure hope all of this makes sense and that someone is able to help me out

    Thanks in advance!

You're right about using attributes. You would just create the attributes for the back designs then add them to the proper front design products.

Thank you Stevesh for your reply. I am wondering if I am able to create one attribute with a group of options and photos? When I go into the attributes section to add a photo there appears to be space for only one photo. What I would like to accomplish is this:

Attribute name - Wedding back design options
    Selection by - radio button
I would then add five different options each with a different photo

Am I able to accomplish this in Zen Cart? And if so, would you be able to direct me on how??

    Thank you soooooo much!

If I understand your question, you would create an option name ('back', for example) in the attributes controller, then create an option value under that option name for each back design, assigning the proper image to each.

If you have multiple products which share the same set of back designs, you can then just assign that option name to that product.

If you have products which have some, but not all, of the same back designs, you can just create a new option name and assign the relevant option values to it.

Attributes are confusing at first. I recommend you create a Zencart test site in a subdirectory, installing the test products, and fiddle with the attributes there until the concept becomes clear. Such a test site is really handy for trying out mods, too.

Thanks Stevesh for your reply. Okay, so it sounds like it is possible for me to do what I need to do. I've worked with the attributes feature quite a bit and I'm really starting to understand it. The only thing I havent done is add images so I was a little unsure.

I agree with your suggestion about a test site, however, I didnt set up the site I have, I paid to have it done so I am unfamiliar with the whole zencart download and set up. Typically, when I am setting up a new attribute, I test it out on one product until I am satisfied with it. Then, when I'm happy with it, I copy it to all the product categories that it should be in.

I'm going to try setting up the attribute today....it's the last one I have to set up and then I have to tackle the shipping module...lol! Wish me luck!

    Thanks again!

    Hi Stevesh,

Okay, so I created an option name as well as the option values. I then went into the Attributes Controller and selected the option name and the option value and then uploaded the picture to a product. I went to my website and checked out what it looked like and the picture was HUGE!!!! What I am hoping to accomplish is maybe a link of some sort where the client can click on the option value and see the design or they can hover over the option value and the picture will pop up. Some of my categories, such as my baby shower designs, have eight different back design options so having all the pictures on the product page is not realistic....as you can imagine, it would make the product page too busy and confusing for the customer.

So, my question is this: Am I able to link the picture to the option value or is there an additional module that can help me accomplish what I'd like?

    Thanks a ton!

Well, the image will display at whatever size you upload.

If I understand exactly what you want to do, you could use small thumbnails for the attribute images (I've seen sites with a lot more than eight attribute images on the product info page) and use one of the mods that expands the image on hover. Search the Free Software Add Ons for attributes images (I haven't used any of them).
