Editing default home page

I'm trying to get rid of the default text on the home page. I found a post in the tutorials that said to edit the includes/languages/ENGLISH/index.php, to get rid of the "Congratulation, you have installed......" text, however the code that it says to edit on that page, in not on my index.php file. I have never edited that file, however that default text in on my site.
How can I get rid of this please?

I would also like to know how I can add categories to the main content of the page. I don't want one box that will list all the categories (only have 3 so far), but I would like 3 separate boxes. Should i just use a table, or is there a way to do this automatically?

It's there, at the bottom of the file. I'd guess you're looking at the wrong index.php file. Make sure you're in includes/languages/english and not admin/includes/languiages/english.

You've made a nice start styling your site, but by using the Classic template, all your changes will be lost when you upgrade to the next Zencart version. Create your custom template before you go any further.

As you only have 3 products in 3 different categories your customer will go directly to the product info page. as you add more to each category they will list down the page.

Also you can directly edit some of the pages by logging into admin and the define pages editor.

If however you want to edit on your computer you will find the same in includes\languages\english\html_includes

includes\languages\english\index.php
