    Default Yahoo mail problems???

New Zen user here, Really happy with this after bashing heads with OsComm for so long!

My first question is.. Does anyone have problems with customers that hold a YAHOO email?

Im in the testing stages and I hold a Hotmail and a Gmail account, I have registered both accounts for testing, I have recieved all shop welcome emails and order confirmations and Updates without an issue..

2 of my housemates run on Yahoo accounts.. They never recieved a welcome email or any order confirmation emails.. or updates.. They checked the junk folder and still not there..

Does anyone have info on this because I have searched and can't find anything..

Mods I have installed are, Ozpost and Bank Transfer.

    My Zen is the latest.

    Cheers in advance

    Shannon.

The most likely cause for emails going missing is relying on basic unauthenticated PHP transmission of emails instead of using authenticated SMTPAUTH transmissions.
Switch your Email Transport Protocol to SMTPAUTH and then set your SMTP credentials for your email account in the settings fields provided.

What kind of errors? The only errors you would see with SMTPAUTH would be caused by incorrect credentials and/or incorrect host/port, all of which are in your control.

If it can't connect to the host, then either you've given the wrong host name, or a port number that's blocked, or your server's firewall has blocked that host name or port number from allowing outbound traffic to reach it.

Port 25 is commonly used for sending email, but it's ALSO almost always blocked for outbound emails being sent from home computers, which would most certainly block outbound emails if your "server" is running on a home computer. Since you've given no information about where your server is, what hosting company it's situated on, where your email account is hosted, what ports that email account is allowed to access on, etc, all we can do is tell you what's causing the block. It's up to you to sort out the blockage with your hosting company.

It might or it might not.
Far more reliable is using SMTPAUTH, because then it operates as if you sent the email yourself from your own account with your own email program. Using the "PHP" selection still just sends the email as a random unauthenticated server that could have been hijacked from anywhere to send spam.
