Default 404 on all admin files

I installed the zencart files on my server. I got the page that says "change the chmod on your configuration.php files." I did that. Then I got the page that says "rename or delete your zc_install folder." I renamed it install. Then I got the page that said "rename your admin folder." I renamed it zc_admin.

Now I can't access anything in the zc_admin folder. Everything is 404.

It's still there...I can see it through my ftp program. But I can't bring it up through a browser window.

I did what I was told. Why won't it work?

Did you make the required path changes in admin/includes/configure.php ?

Also, if you really renamed admin to zc_admin, you'll need to change it again now.

    zc_admin folder
... and now you have told the whole world the "secret" - you need to name the admin something that is not guessed easily and NOT tell what it is. (and you'd be better off to delete the installation folder completely - it is not needed for anything after the install)

Perhaps reading the recommendations in the /docs folder regarding security would be good too.

Okay, I changed the admin/includes/configure.php file, and also changed the admin folder name again. I made sure the configure.php file was 777, uploaded it, then changed it back to 644.

Things have not improved. Now when I try to access the new admin section, I get a Windows browser error that says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."

I've set up 3 other shopping carts, and never had this problem before. What gives?

Never mind...I waited 5 minutes and tried it again...now it will let me log in. What a nightmare this one is being, I'm almost afraid to see what's going to go wrong next!
