Where to Edit Categories in FTP?

My website has a lot of HTML validation errors, the majority of which are in my lists of categories, namely:

end tag for "li" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified

I want to fix these, but I have idea where to find where to edit it via FTP. Does anyone know where?

u cant change categories name via ftp..however login into mysql would do a trick

I'm not trying to change categories names, that I can do via admin control panel. I'm trying to fix code errors. What is mysql, I have no idea what that is, or what to do with it.

I can alter and change the code for almost everything else on my website via FTP, so why can't I alter this?

I just found out this can be done via tpl_categories.php, in Sideboxes. Not sure what I need to change though.

The errors are "end tag for "li" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified"

All I can tell is that it should look something like <li><a href=></a></li>. I don't know how to change that.

Where did you get this version of chcategories? Neither the original nor the one packaged with Categories Dressing has a <dl>. We would need to see the PHP files for the mod to know how it is coded and how to fix it.

You have a <ul> inside the <dd>, but only <a> links in the <ul>, with no <li> tags at all. Whoever coded this was trying to be up to date but didn't really know what they were doing.
