    Default Sorting by model question.

    Hi guys,

Looking for info and maybe a little help.

Trying to sort my products by the Model number that i have assigned to them. Currently it seems to be by name and no matter what i do in admin it wont change.

I have the Column Grid Layout addon installed so i don't know if it's because of this. I have change the "Display Product Listing Default Sort Order" to 1a, i even tried all the others but nothing changed.

When i sort them in the Catalog>Categories / Products it works fine so i know the model names are not an issue.

My site with how the products are sorted.

I raised a similar question a few weeks ago (how to search by model) and got as many replies as you did: none!

In the Configuration ... Products Listing ... What do you have set for the:
    Display Product Model
Do you want to display the Product Model?
What do you have set for:
Display Product Listing Default Sort Order
    Product Listing Default sort order?
NOTE: Leave Blank for Product Sort Order. Sort the Product Listing in the order you wish for the default display to start in to get the sort order setting. Example: 2a

With the Column Grid set to columns, there are no links at the top to set the sort order. Change it temporarily back to rows, set the sort order as you want it, and look at the "sort=" in the URL. That will be what to put in the Configuration > Product Listing > Display Product Listing Default Sort Order box.

Hi Linda and Glenn, I guess that your replies refer to the initial question and not to my unsolved issue in http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183080

@Ajeh:I have Display Product Model set to 2 now and Display Product Listing Default Sort Order set to 1a.

@gjh42: I have changed it back to rows and i don't seem to have an option of Display Product Listing Default Sort Order box as you will see below. Is this something im missing?

I have made a new category as a test and add the products one at a time and the sort seems to be working on that. I use Easy Populate to upload my products. Is it possible that this is causing the sort or to fail?

1a is your image 2a is your model ...

If you try the forced URL for your site of:
    /index.php?main_page=index&cPath=46_72&sort=2a

you will see it sort by model ...

I am not sure if the column display uses the set Sort Order or not ...
