Checkout accepting GV code as Discount

Getting a strange error.

During checkout one can redeem by code either a GV or Discount in the appropriate boxes.
Problem is the discount box is accepting codes from GV with a success message ( of not been redeemed before ) . Of course the discount is not applied nor is the GV balance being updated .

Also in attempt to make clear to the customer I have checked all the language files to make sure GV en discounts are appropriately named (the Dutch version at times had different names for the same voucher only miking it confusing for the customer.)

But the redeem boxes during checkout now give the same words ; GV code rather then discount code and GV code respectively preventing to make it clear there the difference towards a customer .
Been searching high and low but am not able to find somewhere to make a distinction .
Maybe this is related to a discount code field accepting a GV code

ANybody had similar experience ?

Backup your files:
/includes/modules/order_total/ot_gv.php
/includes/modules/order_total/ot_coupon.php

and see if these two work better for you to fix the Discount Coupons and Gift Certificates from accepting/not accepting the redemption codes when they are mixed up ...
