Urgent Help please with downloading..

I have got a problem, had my first two customers on Saturday and there seems to be a problem with downloading the zip files, Pay pal works fine and they got back to the download page, one customer managed to download zip 1 of 2 but got an error report on the second.

can anyone suggest why ...

If there is an Internal Server Error, you need to login to your host account c-panel and go look at the error log. (or ask your host to get it for you).

Come back to us with the details of that error message.

Japee: The error 500 usually means either incorrect or broken codes on .htaccess or that your scripts are taking too long to execute a process leading the site to timeout.

what it is . when someone pays for a product on my site and they are shown to the download when they click the download it then comes up with that server internal 500 error

right guys im gunna explain this simply ...
when you log into any account on my site . and purchase a downloadable product . you pay with paypal . and then i process it and then when i have updated the info its give you the option to download the file you jus bought ... when you click download button i get an internal 500 server error ... please can someone help me with this i am desparate and loosing money ..

Only YOU can get the details of that 500 error. We are not magicians!

As stated, get the details of the error from your error log, and post it here...

just a thought....do you have the right file extension added to the .htaccess file in your download folder?

There can be THOUSANDS of reasons why a server delivers a 500 error.

These range from configurations that limit or restrict certain functions, to conflicts in software, to conflicts in server software and application software.

It is LIKELY that the 500 error is a server configuration issue, where your host has either prohibited the server from delivering downloads, or has set a time-out limit, that will stop the process.

Rather than talk to us about server problems, talk to your host.

If your host has set the server up to prevent downloading of this nature, then perhaps you are with a cheap-and-nasty host that does not understand the sophisticated requirements of eCommerce.

problem solved ... i was missing a # when making edits in the htaccess file ....
