Is there a way to add additional custom field in oder listing?

I'm currently looking for a way to add a payment stats in the order listing page, which is under Customer->Orders in Back-end admin panel. For easier understanding, I have made a picture by photoshop.

as you can see what I want to add is a new Table row in the order listing page called "Payment", which could easily tells me who pays or not. The reason I want this feature because the wholesale store aren't always ship the order after the payment received. We might send out the item first once we received advance payment. So I want this kinda function to track down the payment status in the order listing page instead to go to each order editing page and find out the payment has been fully paid or not by reading the comments.

I did some research by myself, but the only thing I found is some instructions for adding some additional custom field in individual order editing page. Like Fax number. I can't figure out how to do changes in the order listing page with those instructions.

Please help me with it if anyone knows how to do it. Thank you.

That's what the Order Status levels are for.

You can create new status levels under Localization->Orders Status, which will then be available when editing/updating orders.

Thanks for the reply. I know how order status works, However I do need this feature in different purpose.

As I explained earlier, if you properly use the order-status values and update your orders to those statuses when certain stages occur (like getting payment), then you can see the order status immediately in your Admin -> Customers -> Orders screen. And you can use the order-status- filter one-click links in the lower-left of your admin home screen to quickly see all orders in that particular status.

No code changes required. Just use what's already there.
