Default Remove Fax Number/Newsletter and Email Details

    Hi,

I would like to know how to remove the fax number from "update your information page" in my account. Also I have set emails to default as html, but it still appears as text default on this page.

I dont want the fax field anywhere. I turned it off in Admin but it still appears in 'update account' page. Same with Email Newsletter preference. I set it to html in admin but it's set to text in 'update account' page.

You can remove the fax field in includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_account_edit_default.php ansd save the edited file to your template's override folder.

When I set HTML as the default (not a good idea, IMO), then create an account without changing it to plain text, HTML is selected when I go to edit My Account, so it's customer specific.

Oh I see. How come it's not a good idea to set html as default? Would they not be able to view the emails in some instances?

Partly legal. In some places (nowhere in the US, though), it's against the law to default to HTML emails.

Mostly personal, though. I want plain text emails from online sellers, and I think HTML should be opt-in rather than opt-out.
