    Default Developer's Tools

    Hi,

    I'm using firebug to find location for styling for my CSS. Just wanted to know if there is a tool, or maybe how to do it with firebug;

    how can I find which file or directory certain texts are located in. For example: I would like to change the "Please select the preferred shipping method to use on this order." Is there a way to point to this text and find its directory?

    That is not a job for Firebug. Use the Developers Toolkit in admin > Tools to search for a distinctive snippet of the text you want to change; among the results will be the file and line number where it is defined. Then you can edit that file as desired. Be sure to save it to your template override folder if it is not already there.

    Which section are you using to search? When I use developers tool kit, I go all the way to the bottom section, (Look-up in all files), and select all files-catalog/admin. Searhing on select the preferred shipping method brings up includes/languages/english/MY_TEMPLATE/checkout_shipping.php

    The smaller the snippet you use (while still being distinctive), the less likely there will be HTML formatting hidden in the define which will throw off a pattern match. Try something like shipping method.
