Default Checkout process - error handling

    Hello,

I've been looking through the forums and net for a solution to my problem but the only solutions I can find come in the form of expensive module packages.

I need a module or simple alteration that would retain the values already inputed in the registration form when errors ocure, also it would be nice if the errors would display inline so the user can identify the problems with ease.

The typical zen-cart behaviour is to clear the entire form when errors come up and I find it quite bothersome to fill in the same fields multiple times.

I should mention I have the Numinix - Fast and easy checkout module installed, it is a great addon but still it lacks this feature.

Any and all suggestions are welcome, thank you.

Ok so I figured a simple solution would be to alter /includes/templates/mytheme/templates/tpl_modules_create_account.php and give all the input fields a value of $_POST['fieldname'] but that doesn't seem to work, any ideea why?

Ok, it would seem the entire POST array is empty although isset returns true... must mean that somewhere in the checking process the arrays is unset, am I right?

Um, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.
If you skip using the addon, and instead use, let's say, the built-in create-account form, when an error occurs, it re-fills the fields and displays the error message.
Perhaps the problem is your addon.

Thank you for the reply, I was told that the store was behaving like this long before the addon was installed, so long actually that the owners don't know if it ever refilled the forms; it was one of the reasons for installing this addon in fact. Maybe there's an admin setting I missed.

No, there are no admin settings to control that, at least not in core code.

Keep in mind that payment information is intentionally NOT automatically re-supplied, for security reasons. (consider PCI compliance)

This was in regards to the registration form only, we curently only offer COD and repayment so the payment information isn't really an issue. This is very bothersome, I should do a fresh install and maybe look through the code and see where the functions that refill the form on errors are. Although as I stated earlier I tried printing the $_POST array and it came out blank so somewhere in the process it must get cleared.
